But I'll bet if you went back 50 years and asked the average German why they went along with Hitler, they'd most likely respond: "It's complicated".

Oh please, I am no longer faux conservative anyway, but these visual metaphors are silly. For one the National Socialist Party in 1930s and 1940s systematically saluted "Heil Hitler," with their hand raised.
All the faux conservatives you show are simply waving, not systematically goose stepping with raised hand salutes. The metaphor is tempting, but it is not exactly right. For example, Hitler would never have had a Rumsfeld, etc. etc. in his closest advisory group.
Please this is serious deprogramming, you have got to tell the truth, because even these dumbed down faux conservatives won't believe you.
